International cat show «WCF Jubilee Cat Show 2026»

About the event

The breeds you normally only scroll past online will be an arm's length away in Ho Chi Minh City: around 100 cats go before the judges, and every one of them is assessed out loud against its breed standard — ear set, coat texture, bone structure. If you own a cat and have never watched professionals do this, that alone is worth the trip.

Judging follows World Cat Federation rules. The WCF was founded in 1988 in Petropolis, Brazil, and is now based in Essen, Germany; some 280 clubs and organisations across all six continents belong to it, and it writes the breed standards, trains the judges and registers catteries. Vietnam became the fifth ASEAN country to join, and it is represented here by AVF, the Association of Vietnam Feline, which keeps the national pedigree register and runs this show.

Three invited judges take the ring: Jurgen Gunther Trautmann from Germany, Olga Kuznetsova and Ekaterina Shershavikova from Russia. Five classes are contested — Adult, Junior, Kitten, Neuter and Household Pet, the class for ordinary cats with no pedigree at all, where a rescued street cat competes on equal footing.

For families this is a competition rather than a petting zoo: children get to see exactly what separates one cat from another, and why. Under-12s come in with an adult and need no separate online registration. Cat owners get something different out of it — you see living examples of each breed, breeders are there to be questioned, and you can find out how AVF handles pedigrees and cattery registration.

The show sits inside InterPetFest 2026, the third Ho Chi Minh City edition of Vietnam's international pet festival: organisers promise 200 booths, some 400 brands from 17 countries and more than 10,000 visitors. It also bills itself as the first exhibition in Vietnam that lets you bring your own pet along.

Admission works unusually. There is no fixed price — you decide what your ticket is worth, and the full amount goes to the festival's partner rescue shelters. Free entry codes circulate through exhibitors, partners and the event's official Facebook and Zalo channels, but code issuing closes the day before the doors open, so register early. One more thing to plan around: the festival starts a day before the cat show, and that opening day is trade visitors only.

Bringing your own cat comes with conditions: a valid rabies vaccination certificate at the entrance, a separate "with pet" registration lane, and the animal carried or kept in a carrier, bag or stroller inside the halls. Organisers advise against bringing animals under four months old.

Come and watch a hundred cats pretend the judges have nothing to do with them.
