Book fair «Hội Sách Hà Nội lần thứ XI» (11th Hanoi Book Fair)

   From the start of October, the pedestrian street around Hoàn Kiếm Lake gives way to nearly 300 book stalls: domestic publishers, foreign titles, digital libraries and even stands from foreign diplomatic missions in Hanoi, timed to the city's liberation anniversary.

   The 11th Hanoi Book Fair is planned for 1-4 October along Đinh Tiên Hoàng street, from Hàng Khay to Ngọc Sơn Temple, under the theme "Books Open Knowledge - Technology Leads the Future". It marks the 72nd anniversary of Hanoi's Liberation Day (10 October 1954-2026) and is organised under the Hanoi People's Committee. Organisers expect around 50 publishing and distribution houses, domestic and foreign, filling 250-300 standard stalls.

   On the programme:

• — Exhibition space on Thăng Long-Hanoi heritage alongside science, technology, innovation and digital transformation themes.
• — Hands-on access to the "Thăng Long a Thousand Years of Civilization" and Temple of Literature e-libraries.
• — A showcase of e-books, audiobooks and multimedia titles.
• — Stalls from foreign publishers and cultural offices of diplomatic missions in Hanoi.
• — Talks and book-launch meet-and-greets, rights-trading activity, and help signing up for an online library card.

   Hanoi's Liberation Day, 10 October 1954, marks the moment the city was handed over after French forces withdrew, ending nearly a century of French presence there. The book fair has been tied to that anniversary for years: the 10th edition in 2025, themed "Thăng Long-Hanoi's Aspiration to Rise", was held in the same lakeside walking space.

   The fair suits Hanoi readers, families wanting to introduce kids to e-books, and publishers looking to trade rights. If you keep meaning to read more but never know where to start, a few hours along the lakeside book street is the easiest way to find that first title.
