Culture and ArtsThese photobooks reached the curator by accident, with no plan behind it — which is exactly why this selection is stranger than the previous ones. You can sit and read them all day in a café in Ngọc Hà, from early morning until evening.
This is the 15th edition of the regular photobook display drawn from the Matca collection and its guests. This time the curator, Hà Đào, has chosen old books that came to her by chance — and the interesting part is that they are not quite photobooks by the standard definition.
Who made these books
— An air force enthusiast
— A writer
— A photographer
— A painter
— And a pop star
The selection shows how many different roles the image plays in communication, and it is a reminder of print as a mass medium — something the age of screens makes easy to forget. It is for people who take photographs, people who make books, and anyone who would rather turn paper than scroll. Ngọc Hà is in Ba Đình, a short ride from the Old Quarter.
Just drop in and read; nothing to prepare. Which book will find you?
