About the event
Born in Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Kabul, Dakar, Beirut or Saigon, close to a hundred writers from five continents explain why they write in French — through quotes, portraits and maps that connect their voices.
The multimedia exhibition comes from Alliance française de Paris, curated by Bernard Magnier with Sabyl Ghoussoub, with art direction and illustrations by Raphaëlle Macaron. Every story circles the same question: what pushes someone to write in a language that isn't their own, and how French itself keeps shifting as it meets other cultures.
Worth a stop if you care about literature, translation or how migration shapes language — admission is free for the nearly two months it runs at Institut français du Vietnam.
