Exhibition «Quy hoạch tổng thể Thủ đô Hà Nội – Tầm nhìn 100 năm» (Hanoi Master Plan: a 100-Year Vision)

About the event

The city's entire hundred-year plan laid out as a model, maps and film — and you can still walk in before the whole display is taken down.

The centrepiece on the ground floor is a 7-metre circular scale model combined with 3D projection mapping, so the urban structure and priority development zones move in front of you. The fourth floor gives about 1,200 m² to large panels tracing how Hanoi has been planned through successive eras, maps of spatial development, technical infrastructure and land use, a 3D documentary film, a pilot planning-information lookup system and models of selected projects.

The plan itself covers 3,359 km² and all 126 commune- and ward-level units of the city, built on a «multi-tier, multi-layer, multi-pole, multi-centre» structure, with the Red River corridor set to become the main ecological and cultural landscape axis.

   Directions on show include:

  • — regional linkage on a «core and satellite» model
  • — urban rail paired with transit-oriented development
  • — new growth poles: a free trade zone tied to the northern airport city, and the Hoa Lac science and technology urban area
  • — a Red River landscape boulevard
  • — green and smart urban development aimed at net zero emissions

The exhibition sits within the conference at which the city announced the master plan alongside its 2026 investment promotion programme, implementing municipal Decision 2512/QĐ-UBND. Thousands of people came through in the first days after the opening, so a weekday visit is calmer.

One practical point: the Hanoi Museum closes every Monday, and it stands on Phạm Hùng street in the western part of the city, out past the National Convention Centre — roughly half an hour from the Old Quarter by car.

If you live in Hanoi, or expect to, this is the clearest look you will get at the city you will be living in.
