Exhibition «Điểm rìa bên ảo cảnh» (At the Chimeric Edge)

#exhibition#lacquer#contemporary art#trinh anh#le tam#Hanoi

About the event

Imagined creatures meet bodies that have been classified, bred and brought to death: at Á Space in Hanoi, two young lacquer artists invite you to the edge between nature and a world under human control. If you want to see Vietnamese lacquer take on today's questions, this show is worth the trip.

«Điểm rìa bên ảo cảnh» (At the Chimeric Edge) is the first duo presentation by Trịnh Anh and Lê Tâm, continuing their experiments with lacquer and living forms that exist beyond any stable order. Here bodies are fragmented, branched, hybridised and reconstituted. The show is curated by Đặng Thuỳ Anh.

From Trịnh Anh's imagined organisms to Lê Tâm's controlled bodies in «The Slaughterhouse», the exhibition asks where human beings stand among other forms of life: are we observing nature, reproducing it, or creating a new, dreamlike nature by orders we no longer fully control?

   About the artists:
— Lê Tâm (born 2000) specialises in sơn mài, experimenting with Vietnamese lacquer on different materials; BFA 2023 and MFA 2026 from the Vietnam University of Fine Arts
— Trịnh Anh (born 2001) graduated in lacquer painting from the Vietnam University of Fine Arts in 2024; her work was shown at the Young Artist Festival in 2024 and 2026 at VCCA

The show is for lacquer lovers curious to see a traditional medium in the hands of a new generation, and for anyone interested in how people, nature and technology shape each other.

Opening hours: Wednesday to Friday 14:00–18:00, weekends 10:30–18:00.

The exhibition runs until 18 October, so catch these chimeric creatures at Á Space while they are still there.
