Triathlon «BIM Group IRONMAN 70.3 Phú Quốc 2026»

   Nearly two kilometres of clear Gulf of Thailand water, ninety kilometres of smooth coastal tarmac and a finish arch a few steps from white sand. On Phu Quoc the half-distance triathlon is laid out so that one race day covers the whole island — from the morning sea to the beachfront promenade at dusk.

   The 70.3 format adds up to 113 kilometres, exactly half the full IRONMAN distance. The swim goes off at Three Coconut Tree Beach with a rolling start on a marked triangle course; November water sits around 29 °C and air temperatures run between 26 and 32 °C. The bike leg heads down the southern coastline, includes a 15-kilometre straight with no sharp turns at all and takes riders right through Sun World Hòn Thơm. The run is two out-and-back loops along the waterfront, past crowds that stay loud from the first loop to the last — you hear the finish long before you see it.

   The essentials:

• — swim — 1.9 km in open ocean off Three Coconut Tree Beach;
• — bike — 90 km along the southern coast, passing through Sun World Hòn Thơm;
• — run — 21.1 km, two loops along the beachfront;
• — start and finish — inside Phu Quoc Marina, with every race zone within walking distance.

   The course is flat and fast, which makes it work equally well for a first 70.3 and for a personal best. Age groupers race for slots at the 2027 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship: one automatic slot goes to the winner of each age group, the rest move into the Performance Pool and are allocated by roll-down immediately after the awards. Slots must be claimed in person at the ceremony, with photo ID and a credit card — no other payment method is accepted.

   Phu Quoc Marina is an integrated resort complex on Bãi Trường, a short drive from Phu Quoc International Airport. The swim starts on the beach in front of Sailing Club, transition sits by Beach Square, and the finish is on the Waterfront square alongside the expo, the IRONMAN store and the bike mechanic; parking is free for athletes and spectators alike. Condé Nast Traveler readers voted the island Asia's most beautiful in 2025, and the course runs through exactly the stretch people fly in for.

   The weekend goes well beyond one distance:

• — Sunrise Sprint Viet Nam — 750 m swim, 20 km bike and 5 km run, for athletes aged 16 and over;
• — IRONKIDS Phu Quoc — aquathlon and triathlon for ages 5–15: 75 m swim, 3 km bike and 1 km run for the younger group, double that for the older one, with no rankings at all — finishing is the result;
• — the 5 km Newborns Viet Nam Run Out charity loop around the marina and a welcome dinner at Sailing Club, offered to 70.3 athletes at a special rate.

   Entry comes in two tiers: an individual slot and a relay team that splits the swim, bike and run between its members. Both include the athlete backpack, finisher medal and shirt, on-course and post-race nutrition, recovery massage, timing, a digital finisher certificate and age-group awards. Registration is non-transferable and there is no waiting list; a partial refund is available on written request until 1 October 2026, after which entry fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.

   Plan for two things in advance: bikes must be racked in transition the day before — Saturday check-in is compulsory, as is the briefing on stage in front of Sailing Club, which includes an English-language session. Cut-offs run from your individual start time rather than the gun: 1 hour 10 minutes for the swim, 5 hours 30 minutes through the bike and 8 hours 30 minutes for the full race.
