About the event

A complete triathlon, cut down to a distance most people can actually take on. A 750 m sea swim, a 20 km ride on flat road and a 5 km run that ends on white sand, with the finish arch set beside the clear water that made the island a destination in the first place.

The field here splits into two very different groups, and both have good reason to be on the line. The first is experienced athletes using the race to test legs, gears and nerve ahead of the full triathlon that follows the very next day. The second is newcomers who want to learn what the transitions feel like without committing to a 70.3.

Both individual and relay entries are open, so a team of three can split the swim, the bike and the run between them. The course is flat and open with no climb worth the name, which makes it a sensible place to set a first benchmark time.

The race is one of three events over a single weekend in Phú Quốc, alongside BIM Group IRONMAN 70.3 Phú Quốc and the IRONKIDS children's race. The operator is Sunrise Events Vietnam, which has held the IRONMAN 70.3 licence in the country since 2008 and has moved the series through Nha Trang and Da Nang before settling on the island.

Entry starts at 3,000,000 ₫, registration closes on 1 November, and the cancellation and transfer terms are published on the event page. Start waves and race pack collection times will be announced closer to the date, so watch the official channels before you book flights.

If you have been meaning to try a triathlon, a sprint on the Phú Quốc shoreline is a kinder place to start than almost anything else on the Vietnamese calendar.
