Party «Miteinander in Phu Quoc»

   Phu Quoc has a dancefloor that does not belong to a resort stage: a club in Dương Đông opens its doors for free for its own electronic night, with four DJs playing in turn until morning. This is the kind of evening for people who want to hear music on the island without buying a show ticket.

   The series carries a German name, Miteinander, which means together, and it is run by DJ Steffen Sonnenschein. On the poster the top billing goes to AVI, followed by dj doris, DENNOX and Steffen himself — four sets, no star guest, which is rather the point of the name.

   The series has become a habit on the island: editions have been running since last December, almost always at the same club, with one chapter staged in Saigon along the way. They appear roughly one to two months apart, so each one is still an occasion rather than a weekly fixture.

   The organisers list the music as house and electro. In practice that means a steady four-to-the-floor pulse, round basslines, few vocals and no pre-built drop — music to keep dancing to rather than to sing along with. On an island where most late-night music is a live band or a hit playlist, this is a distinctly different option.

   Happy Buddha Club sits on Trần Hưng Đạo in Dương Đông, the main artery of the town centre, and besides this series it occasionally brings in artists from elsewhere.

   The night suits anyone on the island looking for an unplanned evening, as much as the longer-term Phu Quoc crowd who already know each other from earlier editions. Entry is free, so there is nothing to decide in advance: drop in and see where the night goes.
