Stand-up show «Will Pepper live in Saigon»

Two shows in one night, in the same bar, and almost all of it is stand-up. The organisers are blunt about the format: two hours of comedy, one room, no filler. This is the kind of night people come to for the material rather than for the general atmosphere.

The night is produced by Out Of Pocket Saigon and brings Will Pepper to a Saigon stage for two consecutive sets in one evening. Doors open before the first set, and each set is its own show, so you attend the one your booking covers rather than drifting between them.

   How the evening is built:

• — an early and a late show, one night, at Shout Bar in Thao Dien
• — two hours of stand-up with nothing padding it out
• — a bar room, with the audience close to the stage
• — early tickets limited in number according to the organisers

It suits followers of English-language stand-up, the international community around Thao Dien and the districts nearby, and anyone who wants a short, dependable weekend night rather than a long rambling one.

The whole show is performed in English, and since stand-up depends on wording more than any other stage form, that is worth knowing before you book. The organisers set the floor at age sixteen.

Shout Bar sits in the Thao Dien area, which means across the river from the centre, so add travel time if you are setting out from around Ben Thanh. The late set finishes fairly deep into the night, so plan the way home in advance.

A tight evening, two sets, one comic. Pick the set that fits the shape of your night.
