About the event

«Những cách thấy» (Ways of Seeing) is a group exhibition by painters Khang Lê, Quí Phan and Hoàng Sinh at Toong Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm, running throughout October.

The show opens with a line by Thomas Schlesser: «Our gaze cannot embrace a horizon that is too wide». Starting from the limits of vision, the three artists question how people observe the world through different distances of looking — each practice a way of seeing of its own, neither excluding nor replacing the others.

At a glance: three ways of looking

   — Khang Lê (the «far» end): a freelance painter inspired by Post-Impressionism who returned to painting after more than eight years in IT; his scenes keep sliding with wind, water and light
— Quí Phan (also «far»): brings the horizon closer, to familiar places of memory such as mountains, sea, waterfalls, tiled roofs and rows of trees
— Hoàng Sinh (the «near» end): looks closely at natural forms such as flowers, leaves and branches, where small things become overwhelming

The exhibition runs from 1 to 31 October at Toong Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm, 11B Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm, Sài Gòn ward.

For lovers of landscape and nature painting who want to see one world through three viewpoints.
