Stand-up show «Thằng Vợ Con Chồng»

   Six years on stage and never once a full hour alone. Now Minh Ti holds a Ho Chi Minh City room by himself for sixty straight minutes, working the one subject he has studied harder than any other — his own marriage. He came to stand-up after a crush went wrong, and met his wife right there, while practising the craft.

   His years in comedy and his years with her line up almost to the day: both stories began six years ago. The title plays on a fixed Vietnamese pairing — «thằng chồng, con vợ», the everyday words for a husband and a wife. Minh Ti swaps them round, and suddenly it is no longer clear who in the house is who.

   Two guests join him, chosen on a single criterion — only married men were invited:

• — Trọng Phan — an architect who also performs stand-up;
• — Tý Bặm — founder of BloodFlame Fitness Studio.

   Both are introduced on the show artwork with the same counting joke — one wife, two…, three… — so the theme holds for all three men on the bill.

   If you live with someone, you will recognise the small domestic skirmishes the set is built from. If you do not, this is a chance to hear how Vietnamese stand-up talks about family: first person, no television gloss.

   The night is put together by Sài Gòn Tếu, described by the newspaper Công an Nhân dân as the country's first hài độc thoại troupe, formed in 2020. The room is not a club but a small phòng trà, a music tea house used to acoustic evenings.

   Check-in opens at 18:00, an hour before the set. The show is performed in Vietnamese, and the organisers have announced no translation and no subtitles.
