Street Dance Battle «Maison de la Street»

   Ho Chi Minh City's street dance scene lives in the circle rather than on a stage — one run, the opponent's answer, and the room reacts. A new community tournament in Tân Bình opens that circle to dancers who have never stepped into one, with a bracket written specifically to keep experienced competitors out of the draw.

   The organiser is SPACEX Dance Group, a Saigon crew known locally as Nhà Tên Lửa. They frame Maison de la Street — loosely, the house of the street — as an open floor rather than a title fight: the stated aim is to bring hip-hop closer to people outside the studios. The format is a straight knockout across two categories.

   Here is what actually matters:

• — Hiphop Rookie 2 vs 2 — a team category for newcomers, pair against pair;
• — Freestyle 1 vs 1 — open solo improvisation, no style restrictions;
• — Rookie eligibility: under five years of hip-hop training and no wins at community tournaments; there is no age limit, so teenagers and adults share the same bracket;
• — judges, host, DJ and the prize pool are still being confirmed and will be announced closer to the event.

   If you train in the city and have been waiting for a low-barrier first battle, this is a realistic entry point — the Rookie filter takes seasoned competitors out of the draw. For spectators it works as a cross-section of the scene: hours of short rounds that show where the city's next generation of dancers currently stands, and an easy way into a community that is otherwise hard to find from the outside.

   The venue is CLB Khiêu vũ Quận Tân Bình, a district ballroom-dance club in the Tân Sơn Nhất area near the airport, a short taxi ride north-west of District 1. It is a dance hall rather than a concert space, so the audience stands right at the edge of the circle.

   Entry is free for spectators, but you need to fill in the audience form in advance. Competitors pay a category fee: 200,000₫ for solo Freestyle and 350,000₫ per team in Rookie. The sequence is form first, then a bank transfer to the organisers, with your name, category and phone number in the transfer reference.
