Dance championship «East Asia Tango Championship»

   The second tango tournament of the same day, and the one that runs into the night: the championship is followed by a marathon — eight four-hour milongas from 1 to 5 October. Dancers from across East Asia come to Ho Chi Minh City for a floor by the river, in Thủ Thiêm across the water from the centre.

   The organisers describe the programme in numbers: eight DJs, six judges and show performers, three group performances, four group workshops, one tango singer — and the one championship all of it is built around.

   The format suits couples coming to compete and people coming simply to dance: the workshops are a chance to work on technique with visiting teachers, while the marathon section is a rare opportunity in Vietnam to dance for as long as your legs hold out.

   It starts later than the morning Vietnam International Tango Championship in Gò Vấp, so attending both is possible — the organisers spaced them deliberately.
