DanceAn eight-year-old who has just started third grade and a seasoned professional can end up in the same cypher, and a couple of throwdowns settle the round. A shopping-mall hall in western Ho Chi Minh City turns into a breaking floor, with open workshops running free for anyone who happens to walk past.
The championship runs five competitive brackets plus a side game for power moves. The junior line carries the most weight: Breaking U15 and U8 accept dancers from third grade up, and the U15 winner has travel to a tournament in Thailand covered.
The essentials — what is being contested:
If your child trains at a studio, this is the plainest way to see where they actually stand: judged rounds, a published bracket, no home-floor comfort. If you dance yourself, the open 1:1 measures you against a junior generation that is improving fast. And if the form is new to you, a battle needs no translation — two dancers, one circle, and the crowd instead of a scoreboard.
The panel is drawn from working dancers of the Saigon scene: Bboy Lee (Fido Crew), Bboy Raw 2 (Big South Crew), Bboy Black Four, Bboy Kei and Bboy K6 (SaiGon Flavour), Bboy Vinh (Hybrid Formz) and Bboy B4 (Unique United). The children's brackets are judged by Bboy Fight (FFS Dance Studio) and Bboy Tiny (CB Kidz), the Seven To Smoke by BGirl Tinie Rawk, and the prelims bring in Bboy Jet Rocz of The Bronx Boys Rocking Crew.
Prize money is split by bracket. The largest is 10,000,000 ₫ in Breaking U15 — half in cash, half covering travel to the tournament in Thailand and to Hanoi Best Kid; the runner-up takes 3,000,000 ₫ and a top-32 slot at Hanoi Best Kid with hotel support, flights self-funded. Breaking Open 1:1 and Showcase Open pay 3,000,000 ₫ for first place, Breaking U8 and Seven To Smoke Bgirl 1,500,000 ₫. Certificates and gifts come with every placing.
Entry is charged per bracket: 250,000 ₫ for each category registered in advance, 300,000 ₫ on the day; a showcase crew pays 250,000 ₫ and sends its track to the organisers beforehand, with showcase entries closing on 25 July. Spectator tickets have not been announced separately.
Everything runs in the East Hall (Sảnh Đông) of the mall, in Bình Tân district on the western side of the city. Stimulants and tobacco products are banned throughout the competition area.
Entries go through the form; questions about competing or sponsorship go to [email protected]. Register.
Bring a voice you can afford to lose — in breaking the crowd is half the verdict.
