ViCo PizzaMovie: Princess Mononoke

   There is a moment in Princess Mononoke where you realise you cannot root for either side. Both are entirely human in their reasoning: afraid, desperate, trying to build something that lasts.

   Miyazaki set the story in medieval Japan, but its tensions are thoroughly contemporary:

   — What does progress cost the natural world?

   — Who decides what a thriving community looks like?

   — Is there a version of the future where both survive?

   Who it's for

   PizzaMovie is one of the best-loved nights in the ViCo calendar — watch, then stay and argue about it. Good for anime and Ghibli people, and for anyone who enjoys a proper conversation once the lights come up. The bar is small, so seats are limited.
