Film programme «Ồ Ạt Oh Art 2026 · Crossing Blue»

   One registration, one fee, and the whole day is yours: VND 90,000 covers every screening on the date you choose, with nothing extra to pay per film. Ồ Ạt Oh Art is running its third season in Ho Chi Minh City, and this year its film strand arrives in curated bundles — Southeast Asian shorts, documentaries about Hanoi and video art.

   The festival opened on 1 September, and the films are only now hitting their densest stretch. Screenings run at two venues, Amanaki Thảo Điền and Ồ Ạt Lab (số 8 đường 53BTT, Bình Trưng), and the same bundles repeat at both on different days, so a session you miss in one place comes back in the other.

   The three Southeast Asian shorts bundles are curated by Dương Diệu Linh, writer and director of «Mưa trên cánh bướm» (2024), her first feature. She has shaped the Ồ Ạt film programme since its opening season in 2024, and the organisers say her 2025 shorts selections reached audiences across the country through the Lotte Cinema chain. «Becoming Women» gathers five films about the decisions that shape a woman at each stage of her life; «Women and Spaces» gathers five Vietnamese shorts about houses, streets and the memory a place holds. The documentary strand is curated by Trịnh Đình Lê Minh, director of «Thưa mẹ con đi» (2019) and «Ngày xưa có một chuyện tình» (2024).

   Each shorts bundle runs about an hour, short enough to drop in between other plans or to stack two or three into a single afternoon; the documentaries are longer, with the Hanoi pair taking more than an hour and a half apiece. The programme suits anyone following independent Vietnamese and regional cinema, film students, and viewers curious about the stories young Southeast Asian directors are telling now.

   Registration and the fee

   You register by the day: choose your date in the form, transfer the reservation fee, send the organisers a screenshot by email and wait for their confirmation. The VND 90,000 is charged per person per day rather than per film, so one registration opens every session on that date. Do note that on 4 and 6 September the two venues screen at the same hours, so it pays to plan your route through the day in advance. Exhibitions, artist talks and space visits at the festival are free to attend. On 5 September at 15:30 Amanaki Thảo Điền hosts a free talk on collaborative filmmaking with Dương Diệu Linh.

   The organisers have not said what languages the films are in or whether subtitles are provided, so it is worth asking when you register.
