   Private and community libraries in Vietnam run on stubborn individuals: someone opens a reading room in their own flat, someone else builds an architecture collection in a shopping mall basement. In Hanoi those people are sitting down together for the first time to explain how it actually works — acquisitions, readers, money and all.

   Three teams host it: Local Bookable, the architecture and art library CA', and Thư viện Dương Liễu, a village community library grown out of a residents' initiative. This is the first edition of a series the organisers plan to take around the country.

   If you keep a book corner in a café, run a school library, or have spent years thinking about opening a reading room in your neighbourhood, this is where you can ask people who have already done it. Registration happens on site, so arrive about fifteen minutes early.

   The venue is part of the story: CA' Library sits inside MComplex, a Hanoi interior-solutions centre of more than 12,000 m² gathering close to two hundred brands, in its Materials World display zone.

   Finding it takes a moment. The library is on basement level B1 of the Royal City complex, stall E6. By motorbike, park on B3 near the R1 mall entrance, take the escalator to B1, walk straight through MComplex to the far end and turn left. On foot, enter the R1 mall from street level and take the escalator down to B1, then the same route. For drivers the organisers filmed a video guide to the car park.
