Book launch «Hương vị phố cổ Hà Nội» (Flavours of Hanoi's Old Quarter)

   Hundreds of shared street-drawing sessions over ten years have become a book: Urban Sketchers Hanoi and publisher Nhã Nam launch «Hương vị phố cổ Hà Nội – Ký họa và tùy bút», sketches and essays on the flavours of Hanoi's Old Quarter, on the Hanoi Book Fair stage by Hoàn Kiếm Lake. If you love the Old Quarter, this is a properly Hanoian Sunday morning.

   The book marks the 10th anniversary of Urban Sketchers Hanoi (Nhóm Ký họa đô thị Hà Nội) and grew out of hundreds of community drawing sessions. Started by a core of architects, the group spread a simple way of caring for heritage: invite people to sit down, look closely and draw the street.

   Over the decade the sessions have drawn everyone from five- and six-year-olds to retirees, from people who had never held a pen to professional painters. The book is a thank-you to the quiet workers who keep the street's flavours alive, and a love letter to Hanoi.

   The launch is for sketching fans, anyone attached to the Old Quarter, and families browsing the 11th Hanoi Book Fair this weekend.
