US-UK music night «My Heart Will Go On» at Thoáng Acoustic

   One acoustic guitar and one strong voice are all it takes to bring back the English-language hits that have followed several generations through the years, in a small upstairs room in central Hanoi, as an unhurried way to close the weekend.

   The night is named after «My Heart Will Go On», the Céline Dion theme from «Titanic», and its poster shows the liner crossing the sea at sunset. The programme is built from timeless US-UK hits, all in stripped-back acoustic form.

   Performing are singer Minh Thu and guitarist Minh Hieu (Minh Hiếu), the venue's regular pairing for English-language nights: before this they played «Send My Love», «Count On Me», «Leaving On A Jet Plane» and, most recently, «Skyfall» the previous Sunday. The venue describes Minh Thu's voice as powerful and haunting, and Minh Hieu's guitar as versatile.

   It is a good fit for anyone who grew up on English-language ballads, and for anyone after a quiet Sunday evening to recharge before the working week.

   Thoáng Acoustic sits on the second floor of Drop In Café & Bistro and opens every evening from 17:00 to 23:00, with warm lighting, artwork on the walls and a small bar. According to the menu on its website, cocktails cost 185,000–215,000 VND, mocktails 115,000 VND and beer 100,000 VND.
