Minishow «Ưng Hoàng Phúc»

   There was a time when those songs were everywhere: on the MP3 player, on long bus rides, on the walk home after school. On a Saturday night in Hanoi, in a live-music tea room with the stage a few steps from the tables, they get sung again without a speaker or a screen in between.

   In brief:

• — headliner Ung Hoang Phuc (Ưng Hoàng Phúc), the voice behind «Vì Một Người Ra Đi», «Thà Rằng Như Thế», «Người Ta Nói» and a long row of hits
• — the EP «Ưng Hoàng Phúc (HITStory Live Version)», released in 2026, which puts those familiar songs into a new performance setting

• — guests sit at tables, the sound is fully live, seats go by advance booking

   What is worth noting is that the songs never settled into the past. He keeps singing them, keeps reworking them in live versions and new releases, and that is probably what audiences come for: hearing something they know by heart, this time a few metres from the man who has been singing it for years.

   The evening suits you if you grew up with Vietnamese pop of the 2000s, want those hits delivered with the experience of the present, or expect to run into a private piece of your own history inside them. The songs are sung in Vietnamese.

   The room matters here as much as the set. Trixie Cafe & Lounge in Đống Đa, a short taxi ride southwest of Hoàn Kiếm lake, has been a minishow address for Vietnamese singers for years — and for this performer it is a return, since his previous minishow here took place in July. By day it is a garden cafe; by night it turns into a tea room with live sound.

   The venue has not announced a price for the night: its listing gives neither an entry fee nor a table surcharge, so ask about the terms when you reserve a seat.

   Familiar melodies get one more airing here, closer and more direct than any recording of them.
