Screening of «Lighter Than Orange» and «The Legacy of Dioxin in Vietnam» (On Sofa / Ghế Dài #9)

About the event

   Fifteen seats, two documentaries, and the man who made them flying in from Germany to sit with the audience. This is the ninth edition of Heritage Art Space's On Sofa / Ghế Dài film club.

   In brief:

  • — main film: «Lighter Than Orange», 72 minutes;
  • — short: «The Legacy of Dioxin in Vietnam»;
  • — guest: Professor Matthias Leupold, the films' author, present in person;
  • — films in Vietnamese with English subtitles; the discussion afterwards runs in English.

   The subject is Vietnamese veterans exposed to dioxin in wartime herbicides, and what was passed on to their children — told largely in the words of the men themselves. It is a difficult watch and a quiet one.

   With only fifteen places, registration through the organiser's form is required rather than optional; turning up on the day is unlikely to work. Entry is free.

   Complex 01 is a converted factory yard off Tay Son — allow time to find the right staircase.
