Art programme «Chuyện Hà Nội - Một ngày rất Hà Nội» (A Very Hanoi Day)

   A Friday night inside the Old Quarter, a short walk from the Hoàn Kiếm pedestrian zone: lotus tea and traditional cakes before the doors open, then roughly ninety minutes tracing a single Hanoi day from first light to late night through music, dance and stage lighting. It is a straightforward answer to the question of what to do in Hanoi after dinner.

   The show is produced by the Thăng Long Song and Dance Theatre with Trí Minh as music director. The structure is a journey rather than a variety bill: đàn bầu, đàn tranh, bamboo flute and festival drums set against contemporary staging, projection and light.

   What sets it apart from the standard tourist showcase is interaction — the audience takes part in activities during the performance instead of only watching, so the stage stays open rather than sealed off behind a proscenium.

   This is the second title in a series of flagship productions commissioned by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, following «Nét duyên Chèo Hà thành», which opened on 24 July. The city's stated aim is a standing ecosystem of cultural products tied to tourism and the night-time economy, rather than occasional one-off galas.

   It suits travellers with a single evening in the capital, families who want children to hear traditional instruments played live, and residents who have not been inside a theatre in a while.

   The theatre sits in the Old Quarter next to the lakeside walking streets, so dinner nearby and a short walk over works well. Prices have not been published yet.
