Workshop «Chạm Nét Đông Hồ» (Touching Đông Hồ Lines)

#Dong Ho painting#folk art#woodblock printing#artisan#workshop#Sắn.cafe#Nguyen Xien#Hanoi

About the event

   Print a Đông Hồ folk painting yourself and take it home: the «Chạm Nét Đông Hồ» («touching Đông Hồ lines») workshop at Sắn.cafe in Hanoi is led by artisan Nguyễn Hữu Đạo, the youngest artisan of the Đông Hồ painting village.

   Đông Hồ woodblock prints on shell-coated dó paper have accompanied generations of Vietnamese families through Tết markets and old homes, telling stories of customs and wishes in natural colours. At the workshop you will:

  • — hear the artisan's stories about the craft of folk painting;
  • — learn how printers use carved woodblocks and combine colours to make a Đông Hồ painting;
  • — try the traditional printing technique and take home a piece you finished yourself.

   A good afternoon for anyone interested in Vietnamese folk culture, hands-on crafts or simply a slower weekend in Hanoi.

   Registration in advance through Sắn.cafe's form is required.

   Sign up early and spend Saturday afternoon with a piece of living heritage.
