Exhibition and forum «Smart City Asia 2026» (smart city technology)

   City cameras with recognition software, control rooms, EV charging kit, industrial robots and models running on urban big data — the sort of thing that normally lives inside a government slide deck — stand here as working booths you can walk up to and question. The region's smart-city technology show comes to Hanoi for the first time, and if you work in urban infrastructure, IT or procurement, you get to compare vendors in person rather than by brochure.

   This is the sixth edition of Smart City Asia. Organisers expect more than 10,000 trade visitors, over 200 exhibiting companies, more than 100 speakers and delegations from over ten countries. The floor is divided into five themed shows, and Ledtec Asia, a concurrent LED technology exhibition, runs alongside it.

   The five themed shows on the exhibition floor:

• — AI & Big Data Show — artificial intelligence and big data;
• — Smart Tech Show — smart technology;
• — Security Tech Show — security technology;
• — Robot Tech Show — robotics and automation;
• — Power Tech Show — power technology.

   The exhibition is only half of it. Running in parallel are a national conference, a series of specialised seminars, a one-to-one business matching programme and a separate guided route for executives and VIP guests. The conference is billed as the place where ministry representatives, city leaders and major real-estate developers argue out how a smart city actually gets built; the seminars are led by industry professionals and by the solution providers themselves, and are meant to go into deployed case studies rather than sales decks. A session-by-session schedule had not been published when this listing was written.

   This is a trade event, not a day out. It is aimed at people working in urban infrastructure, transport and energy, IT and systems integration, security and surveillance, at officials responsible for digital transformation, and at investors. What you take home is concrete: a short list of suppliers you have seen with your own eyes, one-to-one meetings already booked, and a clearer sense of which capabilities already exist inside Vietnam and which are still imported. Announced participants include international business delegations from South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia, Vietnamese companies and international experts.

   The diamond sponsors of this edition are Dell Technologies and Intel, with Seagate Technology as silver sponsor. The exhibitor list on the show's own site includes Huawei, Viettel, VNPT Media, MobiFone, FPT Software, BKAV, VinBigData, TP-Link, Dahua Technology and ViewSonic, alongside dozens of names known only inside the trade.

   The show grew up in the south: previous editions were held in Ho Chi Minh City, and the most recent one, in May 2026, filled more than 500 booths. In recent years the forum programme has been run by the Institute of Innovation and Digital Transformation (Viện Đổi mới sáng tạo và Chuyển đổi số) together with Exporum Việt Nam, under the patronage of the Ministry of Science and Technology (Bộ Khoa học và Công nghệ).

   The venue is new too. Vietnam Exposition Center opened in August 2025 in Đông Anh, across the Red River north of central Hanoi, at the point where the Đông Trù, Nhật Tân and Tứ Liên bridges converge. Its site covers around 900,000 m² and the centre describes itself as the leading exhibition complex in Southeast Asia. The whole thing went up in ten months.
