Business EventsThirty-nine Japanese educational institutions send admissions representatives to Hanoi, and you get to ask the person actually responsible: which institution, which major, what the file needs, how scholarships are applied for, which visa route applies. This is the kind of information a face-to-face conversation settles faster than months of correspondence.
The programme is organised by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) together with the Centre for International Education Development under the Department of International Cooperation of Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training, and the alumni club of Vietnamese students formerly in Japan. In other words the information here is official: state bodies on both sides, plus people who have already been through it.
The fair runs across two days and the opening hours differ between them: on the Saturday the programme runs from the afternoon into the evening, while on the Sunday it shifts to the morning and closes in the early afternoon. Check the window that matches the day you plan to attend.
The floor is divided into three parts:
Two acronyms will come up all day, so they are worth knowing in advance. MEXT is the scholarship of Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the route most often meant by the phrase government scholarship. EJU is the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students, which most institutions use as a basis for selection.
The invitation is broad: representatives of educational institutions in Vietnam; pupils, students and parents; individuals considering study in Japan; and organisations working in study-abroad consulting, Japanese language teaching and educational exchange between the two countries.
Entry is free. If you are coming with a parent, split the work: one of you sits in the scholarship seminars while the other queues at the consultation tables, and you swap notes on the way out.
