Business EventsMore than sixty European universities set up their tables side by side for one morning in Hanoi, and the person behind each table represents that institution. You can ask about entry requirements, scholarships and research openings on the spot, and hear the part the brochure leaves out from someone who has already studied there.
This edition runs under the theme Open Your Mind, and the organisers spell out what they mean: the fair is not only about picking a university, but about the fact that meeting another culture, another set of values and another way of learning changes the questions you ask. It is organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam together with the embassies and educational organisations of EU member states.
By the EU Delegation's own account the fair brings embassies and educational organisations from 15 member states: Austria, Belgium with both the Flanders and Wallonia-Brussels regions, Bulgaria, Czechia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Spain and Sweden.
What the morning is for:
The Hanoi fair is one part of European Higher Education Week, a run of activities spread across the first half of the month in both cities. In the same week the EU Delegation also joins an international education conference and expo organised by Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training, with a higher education panel discussion and a shared Team Europe booth. The second leg of the fair itself takes place in Ho Chi Minh City the day after the Hanoi one.
Entry is free, but the organisers run a separate registration form for each city, so make sure you pick the Hanoi one. The invitation goes to pupils, students, parents and anyone exploring study and career options in Europe.
One morning is short for sixty institutions, so the sensible plan is to choose three or four countries in advance, write down a few concrete questions, and only then work through whatever tables are left.
