Business EventsAny essay can now be produced by a language model, and language testing is looking for a way to stay honest. That is what fills two November days in Hanoi, where teachers, curriculum designers and researchers from 23 countries treat AI-assisted assessment, feedback and academic integrity as working problems rather than scare stories.
AsiaCALL, the Asia Association of Computer-Assisted Language Learning, was founded on 25 November 2002 and has spent more than two decades bringing together specialists in technology-enhanced language education across the Asia-Pacific. The 2026 theme is «AI for Language Assessment and Academic Integrity». By the close of submissions the organising committee had received 218 abstracts from 417 co-authors, and 250+ participants are expected on site. The programme covers AI in language teaching and learning, AI-supported assessment, academic integrity, generative AI and pedagogical innovation, teacher development and learner engagement, AI literacy and the ethical integration of technology.
Keynote addresses come from researchers whose names CALL specialists know from journals and syllabi:
The conference is aimed at language teachers, methodologists, postgraduate students and programme leaders, the people who will be rewriting assessment policy over the coming academic year. Selected work goes to CALL-EJ and rEFLections (both Scopus Q1), to IJAILE and to the PAIC proceedings, and the list of Scopus journals will be announced on 30 November 2026.
The host is University of Phuong Dong, a Hanoi university founded in 1994 with three campuses in the capital and a Faculty of Foreign Languages that has run since the university opened. The organising committee is chaired by Nguyễn Hữu Cường, President of the university.
Fees depend on your role and on where you are based. Participants from Vietnam pay in dong for two days on site: 1,200,000 VND as a non-presenter, 2,000,000 VND as a presenter, 800,000 VND as a student participant and 1,000,000 VND as a student presenter. International participants pay the same fee for in-person and online attendance: $130 without a paper, $160 with one, $90 and $110 for students. The early-bird rate closed on 31 August and the regular rate runs until 30 September 2026.
Your presentation format depends on where you are based: authors from Vietnam present in person in Hanoi, while international authors may choose an in-person or an online slot. Abstracts were submitted in English and went through double-blind review, registration confirmation is set for 10 September, and full papers for IJAILE and the PAIC proceedings are due by 15 September 2026.
Questions go to the organising committee at [email protected]. If you teach a language and have already met homework the student did not write, these two days offer methods tested on data instead of opinions.
