Road race «Thanh Hóa Marathon 2026»

   A non-profit race built and kept alive by the local running community, on a course through the heritage sites of Hạc Thành and Hàm Rồng wards. Low elevation and wide roads make it one of the rarer chances for an amateur to set a personal best.

   The event is organised by the Thanh Hóa Runners club and operated with VietRace365. It grew out of Thanh Hóa City Trail 2020; the full marathon distance appeared for the first time in 2024, returned in 2025, and this is the third year running it is on the programme.

   Four distances with clear age and time rules:

• — 42 km — age 18 and over, cut-off 6 hours
• — 21 km — age 18 and over, cut-off 3 hours 30 minutes
• — 10 km — age 5 and over, cut-off 2 hours
• — 5 km — age 5 and over, cut-off 1 hour 30 minutes

   Entrants under 16 need a guardian to sign the liability waiver, and children under 6 must have a parent running the whole distance with them. Anyone with a history of heart or respiratory illness is not admitted — the organisers state this as a hard rule.

   The race is open to Vietnamese citizens and foreigners alike, so if you live in the north and want a well-attended event that has not turned corporate, it deserves a look. Race kits are handed out on 5 December, the day before.

   Early December in Thanh Hóa is dry and cool, and a flat course through Hàm Rồng is a fair shot at beating your own record.
