Live night «Giấc Mơ Trưa Thanh Tân» (Midday Dream): Thuy Chi and Vuong Binh

   A song that spread across Vietnamese social media over Tết, then came back in April as a duet, is finally getting a stage the size of a room: a music lounge with seated tables, where nothing stands between the voice and the audience. If you have only met «Thanh Tân» as a fifteen-second clip, central District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City is where you can hear it whole, and in two voices.

   The title of the night stitches together the two songs that made each singer's name. «Giấc mơ trưa» — roughly, «a midday dream» — was written by Giang Son (Giáng Son) for Khanh Linh (Khánh Linh) on VTV3's Bài hát Việt; the cover recorded by Thuy Chi (Thuỳ Chi) and posted online by a friend in 2005 turned a piano student at the Hanoi Conservatory into a name the whole country knew. «Thanh Tân» is the recent one: a track from the gold edition of «Anh bờ vai», the debut album of Vuong Binh (Vương Bình), released in January 2026. It became one of the most-used sounds on Vietnamese social media over Tết — number one on Zing MP3, third on Apple Music, eleventh on Spotify Viral, used 326,000 times in CapCut by the end of February, and nine weeks on the Billboard Vietnam Hot 100 with a peak of number 27.

   In April 2026 the two recorded «Thanh Tân» together, with a new passage written for Thuy Chi by Dlight and Trid Minh. They had met in person only weeks earlier, at the video shoot in Hanoi. «As a schoolboy I listened to a lot of her songs and admired her. When I started out, I wished I could work with my idol. When I finally asked, I was floored — I never thought she would say yes so quickly», Vuong Binh told VnExpress.

   The two voices on stage:

• — Thuy Chi (Thuỳ Chi) — a light lirico soprano with a range of about three octaves, known since the early Vietnamese online-music years for «Giấc mơ trưa», «Xe đạp», «Thành thị» and «Nàng thơ xứ Huế», a Làn Sóng Xanh top-10 singer of 2009, and today a piano lecturer rather than a full-time performer
• — Vuong Binh (Vương Bình) — born Ngo Nguyen Binh (Ngô Nguyên Bình), formerly Monstar's lead vocalist under the name Zino, widely known through the group's «Có hẹn với thanh xuân» — 68 million views; his debut album «Anh bờ vai» (November 2024) topped Apple Music Vietnam's most-played albums, and he reached the final of Anh trai «Say hi» in 2025
