Concert «A Night of Classical Brilliance»

A diamond only shines after a hundred thousand cuts — and for Saigon Classical, so do the great classical works. The concert «A Night of Classical Brilliance» gathers those «rays of light» into one Saturday evening at Sihub, with the support of Bechstein Vietnam.

The programme comes in two parts:

• — violin virtuosity: Bazzini's «La ronde des lutins», two movements of Paganini's Violin Concerto No. 1, Milstein's «Paganiniana» and «Por una Cabeza» for solo violin (violinists Nguyễn Hiếu Doanh and Trần Hoàng Trúc Đan)
• — opera and song: arias by Verdi, Gounod, Rossini and Donizetti, Aleko's Cavatina by Rachmaninoff, Frenkel's «Russian Field», a Schubert lied and songs by Tosti and Quilter (soprano Đặng Tường Vy, baritones Rơ Ông Ha Thoại and Đặng Trần Long Vũ, tenor Nguyễn Hoàng Việt)
• — Romance for trombone by Axel Jørgensen (trombone Nguyễn Thanh Vĩ)
• — piano: Scriabin's Fantaisie (Hồ Thiên Phước); the third movement of Beethoven's Sonata Op. 109, Chopin's Étude Op. 10 No. 10 and Liszt's «La campanella» (Lữ Hoàng Thịnh)

At the piano as accompanists: Nguyễn Lữ Hiệp, Trần Yến Nhi, Đặng Trí Dũng and Phạm Anh Khôi.

The concert takes place on the 2nd floor of Sihub, 123 Trương Định. The suggested contribution is 250,000 VND (Standard) and 300,000 VND (VIP); space is limited, so the organisers ask guests to contribute in advance to hold a seat. All contributions cover hall rental, printing and organisation. Smart attire is requested.

Register early to secure a seat for an evening devoted entirely to classical music.
