About the event

What do we most regret leaving behind when the final line is drawn? A small stage in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City asks that question head-on, with no soothing half-measures. It is a story of souls held to the earth by things left unsaid — and of how a slip by Death itself hands the departed a rare chance to finish what life cut short.

Online sales for 21 August are closed — tickets remain on sale only for the 22 August evening.

   In brief:
— a social-psychological drama from a play by the late writer Ngoc Linh (Ngọc Linh)
— staged and directed by Hua Manh Dung (Hứa Mạnh Dũng)
— a large resident ensemble alongside the theatre's young actors
— an intimate black-box format that puts you almost inside the scene

At the centre is Mr Hai, who loses both his wife and his daughter. A mistake in Death's ledger returns the souls of Mrs Uyen and little Hanh, giving them a chance to answer the questions left unresolved in life. People's Artist My Uyen (Mỹ Uyên) carries the lead and co-edited the script with the director. Around her the stage fills with Vu Tran (Vũ Trần), Minh Thao (Minh Thảo), Tran Tuan Kiet (Trần Tuấn Kiệt), Ta Lam (Tạ Lâm) and other members of the company.

This one is for anyone who likes psychological theatre and raw drama without special effects — it all rests on the writing, the silences and the acting. The theme of loss and farewell stays chamber-quiet yet lands squarely; you may find yourself silent on the way home.

It is easier to lock in a seat and pick your show in advance.

Come and hear what the characters never got to say to one another in life.
