Play «Ngôi Nhà Hoang» (The Abandoned House)

   A ghost play in a small room does something a screen cannot: the actors stand a few metres away, and you hear them breathe between lines. Hồng Vân's stage has been working this genre for years, and «Ngôi Nhà Hoang» — «The Abandoned House» — continues one of the company's biggest hits.

   The play is the second part of «Người Vợ Ma» («The Ghost Wife»), with People's Artist Trịnh Kim Chi in the role of Thủy in the restaged version. The house formula is unchanged: horror sequences cut with broad comedy, so an audience laughs and flinches inside the same scene.

   One evening is left — Sunday, 25 October, and its tickets are already sold out. Nothing later has been announced for «Ngôi Nhà Hoang»: this is the only date the ticket page holds.

   The performance has a single ticket tier — ground-floor seating at one flat price. After paying, buyers contact the theatre directly to pick their seat; Hồng Vân assigns places by phone rather than through the booking system, which is worth knowing before you turn up.

   The play is performed in Vietnamese and leans heavily on dialogue, so a companion who can translate the punchlines will change the evening considerably; the horror beats, staged and lit, carry across on their own. Tickets are sold through Ticketbox.
