Culture and Arts«Để đó» is a phrase you hear in Vietnam several times a day and rarely stop to examine: leave it there, deal with it later. Not a refusal, not a no — just not now.
Six artists take that phrase as the ground for a group show at Galerie Quynh: Nadège David, Đỗ Thanh Lãng, Jacqueline Lâm, Linh San, Ngô Đình Bảo Châu and Nguyễn Phương Linh. The postponement they are interested in is not laziness but a state of its own — unfinished, unresolved, still waiting to be picked back up.
The curatorial premise follows from it. A work is not finished at the moment the artist stops working on it. It goes on changing as it is moved, reinstalled in a different room, translated, and read differently by whoever happens to be standing in front of it.
The exhibition opens with a piece by Nguyễn Phương Linh built from a material she has been returning to for nearly a decade — the argument demonstrated rather than explained.
Galerie Quynh is one of the oldest private contemporary art spaces in Vietnam, which makes it a reliable first stop if you are trying to work out what the Vietnamese contemporary scene actually looks like beyond tourist-facing galleries. The opening reception has already passed, so what remains is the quieter half of the run: no crowd, and time to spend with individual works.
