Minishow «Nguyễn Đình Tuấn Dũng»

About the event

A Friday night in Hanoi can go differently — not in a loud club, but at a small table in a live-music tea room, where the stage stands a few steps away and a voice carries without a wall of amplification. This September that room belongs to one of the quietest and most restrained singers in the Vietnamese love-song tradition.

   In brief:

  • — headliner Nguyen Dinh Tuan Dung (Nguyễn Đình Tuấn Dũng), a singer of tình ca and old-school Vietnamese ballads
  • — live backing by Band 24K
  • — backing vocals from the Tuti group
  • — a true minishow: almost no distance between the stage and the audience
  • — seating spread over two floors, taken by advance booking

Tuan Dung sings the way people tell a story across a table rather than from a stage: little vocal display, a lot of phrasing. In 2025 he released the album «Chợt như năm 18» — eleven songs by Văn Phụng, Ngô Thụy Miên, Quốc Dũng and Đức Huy, recorded live and mixed for the audiophile community, recreating the sound of Vietnamese pop from the 1980s and 1990s. Asked by VOV5 why he stays with that repertoire, he put it plainly: «Dòng nhạc xưa mới chính là con người tôi» — the old songs are who he is.

The room matters here as much as the set. Trixie Cafe & Lounge in Đống Đa has been running minishows by Vietnamese singers for years, hosting Đàm Vĩnh Hưng, Mỹ Tâm, Hồ Ngọc Hà and Vũ Cát Tường on the same small stage. By day it is a garden cafe; by night it turns into a tea room with live sound. For the singer this is a return — his previous minishow here took place in May.

The evening suits you if you like melodic Vietnamese repertoire and acoustic-leaning sound, want a calm close to the working week, or prefer a concert where you sit at a table instead of standing in a crowd. The songs are sung in Vietnamese — this is the classic repertoire the tea-room audience knows by heart.

The venue has not announced a price for the night: its listing gives neither an entry fee nor a table surcharge, so ask about the terms when you reserve a seat.

If you like music heard close up and at low volume, this September night is built for you.
