Concert «Phòng Khách 3 Thế Hệ» #2 (Three Generations' Living Room)

   Three generations of Vietnamese songwriters share one stage set up as a «living room» — an intimate conversation in music rather than a standard concert. The rarest part: Trần Tiến, one of Vietnam's most revered singer-songwriters, meets his audience live, something that has not happened for a long time.

   Joining him are Hà Trần, a vocalist celebrated for her range and power, bridging nostalgia and the contemporary scene, and Phan Mạnh Quỳnh, known for poetic, philosophical lyrics. Gen Z is represented by Marzuz and Thắng, two of the generation's distinctive voices. Musical direction is by composer Dương Cầm.

   If you want a doorway into Vietnamese songwriting — from its living classics to its newest voices — this evening at the Ho Guom Opera, a short walk from Hoan Kiem Lake in central Hanoi, is exactly that. You do not need fluent Vietnamese to feel how the room responds to these songs.
