Workshop «Sáng kiến như một phương thức thực hành nghệ thuật» (Initiative As Artwork)

   One working day is enough to turn a vague idea into a project with a clear structure. In Hanoi, the facilitator walks you through the context, the resources and the shape of your initiative, so that you leave holding not a stack of notes but your own project, articulated well enough to explain it in a minute.

   The day is led by Wato Tsereteli, a Georgian artist, curator, educator and researcher who treats creativity as a driver of social transformation. He founded the Center of Contemporary Art CCA Tbilisi and is co-director of the Vidyashilp University Center for Art, Design and Innovation (VUCADI) in Bengaluru, India. Over twenty-five years he has built international education platforms, artist residencies and socially engaged cultural projects across Europe and Asia. The material of the workshop draws on Social Sculpture, participatory art, regenerative thinking and ecosystems design.

   The session is addressed to art students, artists and cultural practitioners at the beginning or in the middle of their careers. The group is deliberately small, 10–12 people, so every idea gets time on the table and the day runs as a working discussion rather than a lecture.

   It takes place at HAS Library, the library of Heritage Art Space, an independent art organisation that has worked in Hanoi since 2014 through residencies, exhibitions and international exchange. The library sits inside COMPLEX 01, a community mall converted from an old factory. This is the second of two one-day intensives that weekend: the day before, on 5 September, the same room hosts Narendra Raghunath with a workshop on identity and memory.

   The organisers describe the event as non-profit and promise to pass every participant contribution to the artist in full as soon as the day ends, yet the amount is not named in the announcement, so it is worth asking when you register. Places are booked in advance through a form. The workshop runs in English and Vietnamese. The day is documented in photographs and audio for archive, research and promotion, and by attending you agree to that. You are asked to bring a reusable bottle, while tea and drinking water at the library are free.

   Twelve seats, one long day and a facilitator who has built a contemporary art centre from scratch — the arithmetic works in your favour. Come with a raw idea and leave with a project.
