This guide sticks to exactly that — water parks, aquariums, hands-on play centres and a zoo — with real prices, hours and the logistics that matter when you're travelling with children. Note that most Vietnamese attractions price children's tickets by height, not age, so it's worth knowing your child's centimetres before you go.
1. VinWonders Wave Park — the big one for waves

Wave Park is an inland "seaside": six wave pools of varying intensity, including one of over 4,500 m² that ranks among the world's largest — the waves are genuinely strong enough to knock an adult off their feet, and yes, you can surf. Kids get their own graded zones, from gentle bubble pools to six-level slide towers, plus kayaking and beach volleyball on real white sand. Getting there without a car is easy: the VinBus electric bus runs from the metro and Mỹ Đình bus station in about 40 minutes for roughly 8,000–9,000 VND — or take a Grab.

The setting is the real bonus: you're on the shore of West Lake, so when the park winds down you can stroll the waterfront and have dinner by the water. Bao Son Paradise is a 22-hectare complex whose water zone, Castaway Lagoon, was redesigned by the theme-park studio Pico Play: four themed islands with slides, a lazy river, water cannons, inflatable obstacle courses and a toddler zone. The same ticket unlocks a zoo, an aquarium, a dolphin show (four shows on weekends), a petting farm with rabbits and goats, and a VR park — which is what makes this the easiest full-day plan on the list: water in the morning, dolphins at noon, animals after. 5. Baara Land — an artificial "sea" outside town

Baara Land — also signposted as "Công viên biển Hà Nội" — is an artificial beach with real sand and salt water spread over 10,000+ m² on a lakeshore among green hills. The park has changed names several times (don't let the map confuse you), but the rides are steady: a high-speed slide, a double spiral, the "Whirlpool Tornado" and a lazy river, plus a dolphin show included in the ticket. On weekdays it's blissfully uncrowded — the best quiet-day option here. Bonus for culture-minded families: the Thầy Pagoda, one of the birthplaces of Vietnamese water puppetry, is a five-minute drive away.
6. Lotte World Aquarium — the underwater city centre

The mall sits in the scenic West Lake district, and one more thing makes it a perfect rainy-day or heat-wave base: KidZania (below) is five floors up, so you can stack two headline attractions into one air-conditioned day.
Did you know? West Lake (Hồ Tây), home to both the Lotte aquarium and KidZania, is Hanoi's largest natural lake — about 500 hectares. It was once a bend of the Red River, cut off over the centuries.

KidZania is the international "mini-city of professions" franchise, and the Hanoi edition — 5,300 m² — is among Vietnam's largest. Inside a two-thirds-scale city, kids clock in as firefighters, surgeons, pilots, journalists and chefs, using real-looking equipment in real-looking sets, earning "KidZos" they then spend in the park's shops — a sneaky lesson in money basics. For a scorching afternoon it's ideal: full air-conditioning, three to four hours of structured activity, and children who leave tired and delighted. English isn't a barrier — activities are visual and staff are used to international kids.
8. Thu Le Zoo — early-morning animals in the city

Thu Le is an 18.7-hectare park in central Hanoi wrapped around an 8.8-hectare lake, tripling as a zoo, a botanical garden and a small funfair with swan boats, a kids' train and a bouncy castle. That's the strategy: arrive at 7:00 when it's cool and quiet, do the animals in two hours, and save the air-conditioned attractions for midday. One of Hanoi's most modern indoor attractions and the perfect escape hatch for a downpour or the hottest hours. X Space is a chain of seven to eight projection-mapped halls — an underwater world, a glowing forest, deep space — that surround children completely: they don't look at the art, they walk around inside it, chase light-fish across the floor and touch the walls. Built for ages 3 and up. It sits inside Royal City, one of the city's biggest malls, so bowling, a cinema and a long lunch are one escalator away. The full circuit takes 60–80 minutes.
10. Vinpearl Aquarium + VinKE at Times City — the two-in-one

One floor up, VinKE offers ~4,000 m² of role-play professions for ages 4–14 plus arcade games. The two combine into a calm, car-free day: Times City is right on metro Line 1 (Minh Khai station), which makes it the easiest pick for families staying in central Hanoi.
