Business EventsMost of Vietnam's farmed seafood comes out of the Mekong Delta, and the pressure on it has shifted: buyers now ask for green certification and pond-level traceability, not just volume. Can Tho — the delta's processing and logistics hub, roughly a three-and-a-half-hour drive southwest of Ho Chi Minh City — is where the people selling those solutions and the people who need them sit down together.
The fair runs under the theme “Green Technology – Smart Aquaculture”. Organisers list 150 booths, around 120 leading brands and 10,000+ trade visitors: farmers, farm owners, buyers, distributors and plant engineers.
The exhibition floor covers the whole value chain, from fry to export packaging:
A conference programme runs alongside the floor. Day one covers international standards in farming and processing for export markets; day two looks at technology that raises yields and cuts risk in shrimp farming; day three deals with pond environment management and disease control, followed by Shrimp Talk — a direct exchange between farmers, regulators and industry companies.
A second track is built around contests and field formats. The “Ao Tôm Vàng” (Golden Shrimp Pond) competition honours the delta's best shrimp operations: a grand prize of 25,000,000 VND with trophy and certificate, plus three awards of 10,000,000 VND each for technology, sustainability and economic efficiency. Judges score five pillars — economic performance (yield, profit, survival rate), applied science and technology, environmental management and waste treatment, biosecurity and disease control, and sustainability plus contribution to the local community. Households, farms, cooperatives and companies farming shrimp in the Mekong Delta may enter; entries close 30 August. Alongside it run the “Đấu trường Tôm khủng” big-shrimp contest, the “Khoảnh khắc Farm Tôm hạnh phúc” photo competition, the “Nhịp sống ao tôm” video series and a Shrimp Farming Tour to working farms.
Who it is for: equipment and feed suppliers entering the delta market; farms and cooperatives shopping for technology that meets new buyer requirements; processors and exporters; buyers and distributors who would rather see machinery running than read a catalogue. Access to the technical seminars is included in visitor registration.
The location is not incidental. The Mekong Delta accounts for 65% of national aquaculture output and 60% of seafood export revenue, carrying the sector towards its 11.5 billion USD target for 2026. Can Tho alone exports 2.1 billion USD worth of product, neighbouring Ca Mau farms 595,000 tonnes of shrimp and An Giang produces 650,000 tonnes of pangasius. The city also concentrates farming households, processing plants and equipment suppliers in one well-connected logistics node.
The fair is run by Asia Communication and Exhibition Co., Ltd. (Công ty TNHH Truyền thông và Triển lãm Á Châu, trading as Á Châu Mexco), co-organised with the Can Tho Fisheries Association (Hiệp hội Thủy sản TP Cần Thơ) and the Can Tho Business Association (Hiệp hội Doanh nghiệp TP Cần Thơ), with support from the Mekong Delta branch of VCCI, Vietnam's chamber of commerce, and the An Giang Farmers' Union.
Practical rules worth knowing. Admission is restricted to industry visitors — companies, entrepreneurs and their staff; the front desk asks for an invitation letter and business cards. Business-appropriate dress is enforced: shorts above the knee, tank tops, house slippers and beach sandals are turned away. No pets, no smoking inside the exhibition area. The registration counter closes 20 minutes before the halls do. Groups of 12 to 40 people get return transport covered by the organisers.
Questions about taking part go to [email protected]. Visitors should collect a badge in advance via Visitor registration; companies wanting floor space can apply through Book a booth.
Bring business cards, a meeting schedule and shoes you can walk in — in the delta, deals still start with a handshake at the booth and end with a trip out to the ponds.
