Music and theatre project «MUSIC IN THE DARK 2026: Trời Của Ta! Đất Của Ta!» (Our Sky! Our Land!)

About the event

Midway through the evening the lights go out entirely, and music is left as the only thing to hold on to: no images, no visual anchors, just sound. A Ho Chi Minh City arts academy has built a three-chapter stage production around that idea, running from a dawn over the land to a new horizon. If you would rather sit through a concert shaped like a story than a setlist, this is the one to book.

The Vietnamese title “Trời Của Ta! Đất Của Ta!” means “Our Sky, Our Land”, and the producers put the theme of the evening on the posters in two lines — “Ánh sáng & Bóng tối – Âm nhạc dẫn lối” and, beneath it, “When the light fades away — Music takes the lead”. Their premise: music sets a time machine in motion and opens a journey between day and night, light and darkness, where opposites meet, intertwine and resonate — the journey of one human life first, and of an entire nation beyond it.

The evening is split into three chapters, each with its own name and its own place on the route:

  • Bình Minh Của Đất (Dawn of the Earth) — the beginning of the journey: music rises from sounds both primal and familiar, leading back to one's roots and homeland
  • Ánh Sáng Của Bóng Tối (The Light Within Darkness) — the heart of the journey: as the light fades, music stops being something to be seen and becomes something to be lived, with sound alone guiding the way
  • Chân Trời Mới (A New Horizon) — the destination of the journey: the light returns, then bursts into brilliance, and the music becomes part of the listener

The producer is Soul Institute of Arts (SIA), a multidisciplinary arts institute in Ho Chi Minh City that belongs to the Embassy Education group and works to a Feel – Believe – Inspire philosophy. The posters also list Soul and Saigon Contemporary & Ballet Dance Company among the names behind the show.

This is a night for people who want dramaturgy rather than a parade of hits: music theatre and contemporary dance audiences, viewers who go for what light and sound can do on a stage, and anyone curious about how a performance holds up when there is nothing to look at. For your bearings, the theatre sits in An Khanh ward on the Thao Dien side of the Saigon River, the leafy eastern bank facing the city centre.

The same programme runs on two consecutive evenings, so pick whichever night suits you instead of treating them as two different shows. The cast and the repertoire had not been published by the organiser when tickets went on sale, which is worth knowing if you are coming for a particular performer.

Questions about the project go to the academy at [email protected], and seats are sold on the event page: Tickets

Come for the rare pleasure of a dark hall where every pause is audible, and see what your own new horizon turns out to be.
