Live night «Dark Intensity» at Blue Monkey Saigon

   Heavy guitar music in Saigon lives in bars across the river rather than in big halls. One of those nights is put together by the band Rayzorwire: first a full show with an opening act, then a late party with DJs, photography and an art fair in the same room. The address is a bar the local heavy scene treats as home ground in the Thao Dien area.

   Rayzorwire headline, Hanging Judy open. Both play at Blue Monkey Saigon, a bar that turns up regularly in the city's punk and metal listings, and the venue itself sponsors the evening.

   AfterDark is the bar's own recurring late-night series, and the number 035 in its name means more than thirty editions have already run. This edition starts right after the concert and is formally listed as a separate event, but it happens in the same room on the same night, so in practice it is the second half of one programme.

   If you listen to heavy rock and want the band a few metres away, this night is for you. Anyone coming for the party and the photographs does not have to choose either, as the two halves run back to back and you can stay for both.

   Tickets are sold at the door only, so arrive a little early to be sure of getting in for the opening act.
