Fan event «& JOY — Three decades of Joy»

   Three decades of one singer, and an afternoon for the people who have followed her since the beginning: Vietnamese fans of Red Velvet are marking the milestone in a small tea house in Ho Chi Minh City rather than in a concert hall. If you have only ever met this fandom in a group chat, this is the afternoon when it walks into a room.

   The birthday belongs to Joy — Park Sooyoung, born on 3 September 1996 on Jeju Island and a member of Red Velvet since the group debuted in August 2014. Away from the group she has released two solo EPs, Hello (2021) and From Joy, with Love (2025), and led the dramas The Liar and His Lover (2017), Tempted (2018), The One and Only (2021–2022) and Once Upon a Small Town (2022).

   The name is a pun the fandom reads instantly: & JOY is pronounced «Enjoy», and «Three decades of joy» means both three decades of Joy and three decades of the word her stage name is made of. The announcement turns it into a promise — Luvies will stay beside her, the way they finish the line «You, me... & JOY».

   The organisers have done this before. The same fan circle ran «Joie de Vivre 0309 — Happy Joy Day» in September 2023 and «Reveries de Prom», a party for nine years since Red Velvet's debut, in July of the same year, both in Ho Chi Minh City.

   The gathering is aimed at ReVeLuv — Luvies, as the fandom is usually called in Vietnam — and at anyone who came to the group late and knows a handful of songs. One caveat worth knowing before you plan the trip: so far the announcement carries only the date, the hour and the address, while the programme, any freebies and the conditions for taking part have not been published.

   Her birthday falls on a Thursday, and the fandom moved its meeting to the Sunday right after — an afternoon long enough to say everything that has been saved up.
