Play «Hẹn Em Rằm Tháng 7» (See You on the Full Moon of the Seventh Month)

   Stories about Vietnamese migrant workers abroad usually arrive as tragedy. This one arrives as comedy — and the longer you laugh, the more clearly you hear what sits behind it: years away from family, the grind of immigrant labour, the feeling of standing slightly outside a community that is not quite home.

   Written and directed by Lê Quốc Nam, the play had its trial performance at Sân khấu Nghệ thuật Trương Hùng Minh on 21 June 2026 before opening to the public. The cast is led by Việt Hương with Lê Quốc Nam, Võ Minh Khải and Lê Nam, plus Bảo Bảo and Di Dương sharing one role, alongside the theatre's younger company.

   Rằm tháng 7 — the full moon of the seventh lunar month — is Vietnam's season of filial remembrance, when families honour ancestors and, by extension, their origins. That is the appointment the title refers to. The characters come from different circumstances and carry different ambitions, but share one longing for home, and they get through by leaning on each other.

   The next performance is on Sunday 6 September 2026 at 19:30. After that the play returns on 20 and 27 September, both Sundays and at the same hour; all three evenings are already on sale. Nothing beyond 27 September has been announced.

   The theatre sits on Vĩnh Viễn street in the former District 10, a short taxi ride north-west of Bến Thành market. It was founded by the comedian and teacher Minh Nhí as a stage for training young actors and mounting his own productions.

   The play is performed in Vietnamese, and much of the humour is verbal, so bring a Vietnamese-speaking friend if you are still learning. Book on Ticketbox if you want one of the remaining dates.
