«Xếp Một Khoảng Trời» (To Fold a Sky) Exhibition

   Twenty-three lacquer works by Nguyen Van He — his first solo exhibition, curated by Ace Le.

   Lacquer is the most distinctive medium in Vietnamese fine art: layers of resin are built up and then sanded back down, so the image appears only at the final stage, once the upper layers have been removed. The technique forces the painter to work in reverse — picturing the result through what will be taken away.

   The venue is CHILLALA – House of Art in Thao Dien, the district where much of the city's gallery scene has settled.

   Open every day from 9am to 9pm, through 16 August. Entry is free.
