Nha may xe lua Gia Lam (Ha Noi)

Nightlife and ClubbingNine years ago this British comic already played a bar stage in the Trúc Bạch quarter — the very same room he returns to now. Now he is back in Hanoi with a new hour and a set of invited guests, and if you have been missing live English-language stand-up where the room is louder than the microphone, here is your reason to go out.
The headliner is David Alfie Ward, a comedian and actor from the East End of London. He started out in a small bar in his home neighbourhood and now plays major clubs across the UK, mainland Europe, South Africa, South East Asia, the Middle East, the USA and Australia. At home he is known from TalkSPORT, Capital FM, ITV, BBC 5 Live, BT Sport and The Metro: he hosted The Stand Up Sketch Show, did television warm-up for Mo Gilligan and for Harry and Jamie Redknapp, and opened for Dane Baptiste, Darren Harriott and Michelle Wolf. Away from the stage he is an ambassador for Norfolk and Waveney Mind, a British mental health charity.
Who the series has brought to Hanoi before:
Jamali Maddix, United Kingdom
Olga Koch, United Kingdom
Dwayne Perkins, United States
Jocelyn Chia, Singapore and the United States
Sam See, Singapore
The night is built for anyone who misses club stand-up in a room that answers back: for expats it is English-language comedy without a flight home, for Hanoi audiences a chance to hear British delivery in person. The rest of the line-up stays under wraps, because beyond the headliner the organiser so far promises only special guests, with no names announced.
Standing Bar is a small room on Trấn Vũ street, and it is where Stand-up Hanoi has been staging its English-language nights for years: in November 2025 the Irish comic Danny O'Brien played this same stage.
The organiser sells directly, without a ticketing platform: you reserve by bank transfer, receive an email confirmation within 24 hours and show that email at the door. The early tariff covers twenty seats only and closes on 24 September, the advance price holds until 30 September, and after that only the door price is left. The room is small, and the organiser states plainly that seats are limited. Doors open at 20:00, the show starts at 20:30.
The show runs in English; no translation or subtitles have been announced.
The organiser asks that questions be sent by email to [email protected].
If it has been a while since you laughed out loud among strangers, this is a good evening in Hanoi to fix that.
