Nightlife and ClubbingA bar on Hàng Buồm street gives the whole night over to one unbroken session: three DJs take the booth in turn, and each of them has enough time to tell a full musical story instead of dropping in for half an hour. This is a night for people who come for the music rather than for a stage show.
Leading this edition is Brent Burns, a British DJ who has spent years inside the Bangkok underground. He co-founded Transport and is one of the figures behind Bangkok Community Radio. His sound rests on nineties house, Italo, Balearic and leftfield records, where deep digging meets an instinct for keeping a floor in motion.
The other two bring different approaches to the same night:
The name of the series, «Ca Đêm», means night shift in Vietnamese, and it describes the format honestly: the work at the booth runs until morning. The series is run by Factory 47 itself, a small club in Hanoi's Old Quarter that keeps a near-nightly schedule and therefore knows exactly who can hold a long set.
It will suit both regulars of Hanoi's underground series and visitors curious about how a small Old Quarter floor actually sounds. No stage effects, no queue for a photo wall, just three full sets and a dancefloor that assembles itself around the music.
If you want to hear a DJ travel the whole distance, come early: the opening hours are where you can tell which direction the booth has chosen.
