Charity Concert «Nắng Hoàng Hôn 2026 | Sông Trời» (River of the Sky)

   Classical music here is not background to a ceremony: every dong raised during the evening goes to people living between dialysis sessions. The concert is built as one continuous story rather than a run of separate numbers, and you leave the Hanoi hall carrying more than an impression.

   Nắng Hoàng Hôn (“Sunset Glow”) is a charity concert series founded in 2024. It grew out of “Hồi ký chạy thận” (A Dialysis Memoir) by Hồ Hồng Việt, who fought a grave illness for seventeen years. After a modest first edition the series expanded: the 2025 concert “Những Lá Thư Chưa Gửi” (The Unsent Letters) drew donations from thousands of audience members and benefactors for dialysis patients facing hardship in Hanoi. The third edition moves up to the Grand Concert Hall of the Vietnam National Academy of Music (Học viện Âm nhạc Quốc gia Việt Nam), a room of roughly seven hundred seats a short ride west of the Old Quarter.

   This year's theme, Sông Trời (“River of the Sky”), follows the ten-thousand-mile journey of a single Drop of water — a traveller passing through civilisations, absorbing human joy, grief and memory, rising into cloud and returning to shelter the world in another form. The literary frame comes from rivers in the poetry of Du Fu (Đỗ Phủ), Guillaume Apollinaire and Nguyễn Du, and from Langston Hughes: “I've known rivers ancient as the world and older than the flow of human blood in human veins.”

   The essentials — the programme runs in five chapters:

• — Chapter I. Khởi Nguồn — The Source, where the Drop begins.
• — Chapter II. Con Người — Humankind, life grown up beside the water.
• — Chapter III. Giọt Nước Chạm Tới Con Người — The Drop Meets Humankind.
• — Chapter IV. Tàn Phá — Destruction.
• — Chapter V. Tái Sinh — Rebirth.

   Music, narration and projected imagery are performed by artists from Vietnam and abroad; the organisers announce the full line-up closer to the date.

   It suits regular classical listeners who want a programme with a narrative spine, and equally newcomers to the repertoire — there is always a story to hold on to, and nothing on the night assumes prior knowledge of Vietnamese music. The organisers commit to publishing a transparent account of everything raised and passing it to haemodialysis patients in difficult circumstances in Hanoi.

   The three tiers are named after the theme of the evening: Mạch Nguồn at 300,000 VND, Dòng Chảy at 500,000 VND and Sông Trời at 700,000 VND. They differ only in where you sit — the programme is the same for everyone — and seats are picked directly on the hall map.
