Open-air show «Quảng Ninh – Thành phố rạng rỡ tương lai» (Quang Ninh — City of a Radiant Future)

About the event

   A rotating open stage in the middle of the square, the action carried out along the seafront road, onto the bay and into the air above it — and a viewing area stretched across nearly the whole coastal strip. Organisers are planning for roughly 100,000 people watching live: about 50,000 on Quang Truong 30/10 square and about 50,000 along the Tran Quoc Nghien coastal road and the streets feeding into it.

   The occasion is Quang Ninh becoming a centrally-governed city, marked together with the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution (1945–2026) and Vietnam's National Day. For a province built on coal, ports and a World Heritage bay, that change of status carries real weight locally. The evening opens with the anthem-like piece that gives the whole programme its name, «Quảng Ninh – Thành phố rạng rỡ tương lai» — Quang Ninh, a city radiant with the future.

   The central stage is built open and rotating so it can face the square and the seafront at once, tied into a parade route plus performances staged on the water and overhead. 25 LED screens and a synchronised sound system are being installed around the site, so the programme still reads from a long way back.

   Several satellite activities run before and after the main night:

  • — 26–28 August: between 50 and 100 tourist boats, lit with coordinated artistic lighting, move in formation along the shore from Hon Gai beach to Tuan Chau port, set to music;
  • — 28 August – 2 September: 3D mapping projected onto the facade of the Planning, Fair and Exhibition Palace opposite the square;
  • — 27–28 August: a food street along Tran Quoc Nghien and its side roads, serving Quang Ninh specialities alongside dishes from other regions.

   The programme was approved by the Quang Ninh People's Committee and is run by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with police, military, medical, power and telecoms services each working to their own plan for a crowd this size.

   Practical geography: Ha Long is about two and a half hours by expressway from Hanoi, and the square sits directly on the waterfront, so the seafront road doubles as both a viewing point and the way in. Arrive early if you want the stage rather than a screen — you will be sharing the shoreline with a good part of the province.
