Book launch «Xứ sở vô danh» and a meeting with Doan Bui in Da Nang

About the event

A novel about loss, where tragedy walks next to laughter, brings French-Vietnamese writer and journalist Doan Bui to readers in Da Nang. The Institut français du Vietnam - Danang invites you to the launch of the Vietnamese edition of «Le Pays de Nulle part», published as «Xứ sở vô danh».

Doan Bui began this book more than ten years ago. It is part declaration of love, part anti-manual of grief, where the intimate speaks to the universal: a tribute to the tenacity of mothers and to children who left too soon. The Vietnamese edition is published by Kim Đồng Publishing House. The author herself is the guest of this meeting; it is organised by Kim Đồng Publishing House, the Institut français du Vietnam and the University of Foreign Language Studies.

   About the author:
— born in 1976, a senior reporter at the weekly Le Nouvel Obs
— winner of the Albert Londres Prize in 2013 for her reporting on migration
— her debut novel «La Tour» (2022) was well received
— «Le silence de mon père» came out in Vietnamese in 2018 as «Người cha im lặng», translated by Thuận

The meeting is for readers of contemporary French writing, for anyone keen to hear an investigative journalist talk about her most personal work, and for language students who want to meet a French author on campus.

Da Nang is one stop on the author's trip, alongside Hanoi, Huế and Ho Chi Minh City. Entry is free; registration is optional.

Join Doan Bui at the University of Foreign Language Studies and step into «Xứ sở vô danh».
