Charity walk «Blue Dragon Walk»

   Walk as far along the shore as you feel like, and turn those kilometres into help for children in crisis — that is how the September fundraiser run by the Blue Dragon foundation works in Hội An. You pick the distance yourself, from a gentle three kilometres to a full marathon, and instead of buying a ticket you open a personal fundraising page and invite friends to back you.

   Behind it stands Blue Dragon Children's Foundation, a humanitarian organisation based in Hanoi. By its own figures, in more than twenty years it has helped rescue over 1,600 victims of human trafficking and changed the lives of over 30,000 people, working with street children, children with disabilities and survivors brought home from trafficking. Money raised goes to rescuing people from modern slavery, psychological care for those recovering from exploitation, keeping kids in school and training, and workshops plus small-business start-up support for communities most at risk.

   The short of it — the distances walkers choose between:

• — full marathon, 42 km;
• — half marathon, 21 km;
• — mini marathon, 10 km;
• — micro marathon, 5 km;
• — a 3 km meander, or any distance you set for yourself.

   The format suits families with children, office teams, running and hiking clubs, and visitors in town for a few days: three kilometres by the sea are within anyone's reach, and the contribution counts the same. The global walk day is run by the foundation together with The Intrepid Foundation, and the campaign page states that Intrepid covers 100% of administrative costs, so donations go straight into programmes in Vietnam.

   A few things worth knowing in advance. Da Nang's event calendar lists only the month and Bắc Mỹ An – Mỹ Khê beach, but the foundation itself runs a single Vietnamese walk, in Hội An: start and finish at Chops on Phan Chu Trinh, 15.4 km along the beach towards Cửa Đại, on through the Cẩm Thanh rice paddies and back up the river into the old town. The shared walk day is Sunday, 13 September 2026. The start time has not been published yet, and the organisers set no entry fee: you register in order to open your fundraising page.
